Three Ways To Shine In Your Brand Photos

Have you been thinking about elevating your business with a professional brand photoshoot—but the thought of stepping into the spotlight brings on that negative mind chatter until you’ve talked yourself out of the photos yet again?!

A collection of brand photos can offer you so much more than simple headshots. In fact, they’re the perfect way for your audience to get to know you without you saying a word.

At the end of the day, people buy from people—so go ahead and show the world who you are through your brand photos! When you have a well-rounded image library that showcases your personality and unique brand, your business becomes more memorable and stands out from the rest.

Ready for your best brand photos yet? Follow these three tips to help you shine with your brand photos.

Be yourself:

A brand photoshoot is not about smiling and saying, “cheese!” It’s about letting the camera capture who you really are so you can build that know, like, and trust factor with your audience. My best advice is to simply pretend the camera isn’t clicking—and then, use movement and body language to show the real you that your clients are sure to love. Let yourself go because the candids are always the snaps that end up crushing it.

Additionally, do some brand reflection beforehand so you have a clear vision of how you’d like to come across in your photos. Give some thought to your “brand persona”and how you can emulate that in front of the lens. Are you a thought leader and speaker? A fierce female founder? A creative visionary? Bring that bravery, that inner glam, and that grit to the table so the camera can tell your true story.

Dress for success:

Your wardrobe is an excellent way to add personal flair to your brand photos. Personal style reflects who you are and can help you attract clients who align with your vibe.

If you find yourself working at home most days, use your brand photoshoot as an opportunity to shed the fuzzy slippers and lounge pants and get dressed up!

Be sure to select items that fit well and make you feel self-assured and confident.   Try on your items well in advance of your photoshoot, not the night before!  See what accessories you can incorporate to add that extra pop!

Whether you’re working with a stylist or raiding your own closet, keep the purpose of these photos in mind. Brand photos for your website should complement the brand colors on your site.  If you are just shooting for social media, brand colors should be considered but there is a bit more flexibility.  Ask your photographer ahead of time how many outfit changes will be included in your session so that you can plan a few looks that have you looking like a boss!

Grab those props:

Props are the perfect addition to nearly every photo shoot for several reasons.

1. Using your everyday items can help your audience envision what it’s like to work with you.  These items can be things you use daily in business or get personal and share things used in your daily self-care practices.

2.  Props add visual interest and personality.  Think out of the box and get creative about how to use fun items to tell your story.  For example, You may be a coach who helps people build their money mindset.  Why not grab a piggy bank or wear dollar sign earrings?!

3. Props give you something to hold, which eliminates nerves around how to pose or what to do with your hands.   Pretend someone is calling you on your phone while the camera is clicking or throw some confetti in the air.  The more you let go, the better your photos will be!
