Today, I am excited to introduce you to my recent client, Abby Gallo.  Abby is the Founder & CEO of Terrain Bookkeeping,  a bookkeeping and advisory firm that specializes in helping marketing and creative agencies increase profits through key financial insights.

Abby is a QuickBooks Advanced ProAdvisor who started her career at a boutique PR agency in NYC. Having worked inside an agency herself, she's aware of the challenges and opportunities agency owners face and is passionate about helping them gain greater clarity around their books so they can have thriving, sustainable businesses.

Abby has been in business for approximately 3 years and felt ready to take her business to the next level with professional brand photography. We planned a session that highlighted her professionalism as well as her down to earth, fun vibe. We found the perfect location in Jersey City, NJ for her photoshoot and I can’t wait for you to learn more about Abby below!

Please tell us about your business and the services you provide.

I offer monthly bookkeeping, QuickBooks online set up, receipt management, and more.

My services are unique because, unlike most bookkeepers, I have monthly calls with my clients to review financials and answer any questions.  I also offer support with budgeting, cash flow forecasting as well as profit coaching in order to help my clients plan for the future.

Please describe your ideal client and the transformation your clients experience by working with you.

My ideal client is someone who owns their own marketing or creative agency. Ideally, they use QuickBooks Online and have annual sales of $100k or more. They are ready to fully outsource their bookkeeping or, if they already do, they're looking to gain more insight into their business finances so they can make important decisions to grow their business.

After working with me, my clients feel relieved of the burden of bookkeeping, empowered with new knowledge about their finances, and motivated to make positive changes in their businesses.

How did you get started doing what you do? How has your career path evolved over time?

I had been working as the Executive Director of an environmental nonprofit organization and, as one of the many hats of that role, I was required to do the bookkeeping. I had to learn how to do it all and I fell in love with it. Eventually, while trying to hire a bookkeeper for that organization, I saw how hard it was to find good bookkeepers!

After the birth of my daughter, I left the organization and, after a year of "staying home," I knew I needed to start something for myself. Bookkeeping was a natural fit so I became QuickBooks certified and the business has grown from there.

What is one fun fact about you that you’d be willing to share?!

I grew up in Maine and used to compete in cross-country skiing!

Why did you decide to invest in visual branding for your business at this time?

Most of my photos were selfies or photos taken by my husband.  I felt it was time to elevate the images of me on my website in order to convey a more professional image as I continue to grow and scale.  I also need a collection of professional photos to support my marketing efforts including the development of a new freebie, onboarding materials, and increased social media presence.
